Tag Rugby

Tag Rugby is a growing sport in South Africa. A lot is being done to grow the game as we prepare to select teams to go to the Tag World Cup in Ireland in 2023 and to put in a bid to host the 2025/2026 Tag World Cup in Cape Town. The game is fast and fun with minimal contact. Players are tagged when they have the ball by a defender who removes a tag from the attackers hip. There is no tackling, lineout or scrum. Kicking is allowed but only below shoulder height during play.

Men and ladies can play in the same team.  Remember the Cricket Sixes is about fun, working up a sweat and enjoying a cold beverage with teammates and new friends.

The Tag Rugby events at the Cricket Sixes are played with just 6 players on the field at any one time (3 ladies and 3 men).  Games are short, on a reduced size field and rolling substitutions are allowed. A maximum of 12 players allowed in a team
